Rwanda

IFAD’s projects and programmes in Rwanda are designed to tackle poverty by promoting equitable economic growth, agricultural modernization, and by encouraging exports and promoting employment. The overall programme gives particular emphasis to transformation of the agricultural sector, which provides for the needs of more than 80 per cent of the population. IFAD-funded initiatives address low agricultural productivity, and promote sustainable intensification of farming, and irrigation, soil and water conservation and financial services. IFAD helps create and strengthen organizations of small-scale producers and farmers and supports communities in their efforts to identify the most vulnerable groups and include them in social and economic development processes.
