The main objectives of IFAD’s operations in the country are to improve food security and family nutrition by helping small-scale farmers diversify and intensify agricultural productivity while reversing land degradation through sustainable resource management. Investments prioritize the delivery of financial services to rural communities for improved agricultural production and the creation of income-generating activities. IFAD finances programmes and projects that encourage poor people’s participation in the planning and development of income-generating activities, including microenterprises.
