A strategic reflection workshop takes place in Dakar this week, to explore the exchanges and strengthen FIDAfrique III major proposals. 40 participants from projects, cooperating institutions, IFAD and other partners will draw guidelines for the next phase.
IFAD (Western and Central Africa Division) is organizing in collaboration with the Government of Burkina Faso (Through PDRD a project planning workshop on Smallholder conservation agriculture Promotion (SCAP) in Western and Central Africa, to be held during 23-25 May, in Ouagadougou. The final project document (scheduled to be submitted to IFAD in June) will be shaped by workshop outcomes as well as the already-approved project concept note.
This 57-pages document is the final version of the Ouagadougou Workshop’s Working document (26th to 30th September 2005). It’s organized in tree parts presenting the step, the tools and the examples, and aims to provide to IFAD’s projects and programs in Western and Central Afrcia a conceptual and methodological framework for the capitalization and the valorization of their experiments.

IFAD had present version zero of the rural poverty portal (www.ruralpovertyportal.org) in Tunis during the Word Summit of Information Society. The portal is a web site where rural poor people, policy-makers, donors, research institutes, non-governmental organizations and other development partners can share information about eradicating poverty. The portal also provides space for discussion.
On the rural portal you can:

read about what works in rural development projects – and what doesn’t
listen to farmers, development practitioners and decision-makers as they explain the challenges of rural poverty eradication
join an electronic community committed to making rural poverty history.

Electronic Conference about Community Driven Development - CDD
This public mailing list is a preliminary electronic conference to an IFAD Regional Workshop about systematic approach to Community-Driven Development (CDD) as an effective vehicle to reducing rural poverty through increased empowerment, improved access to services and better incomes for the rural poor.
