Decentralization of Livestock Vaccination Activities in the Gambia

The decision of the Department of Livestock Services of The Gambia to decentralize the vaccination of Livestock to the village Auxiliaries (VAs) who are trained by the Department has impacted positively in the control of both New Castle Disease in poultry and PPR in small ruminants; thus contributing significantly to increased incomes and household food security.

A similar activity for Crop Village Auxiliaries has also had its positive impact in RFCIP intervention villages.
