Annual Review Workshop of 2006 organised to enable stakeholders review project implementation for the year and collectively plan ahead for 2007.

The Rural Enterprises Project Phase Two (REP II) organised its Annual Review Workshop of 2006 in Sunyani from 15th to 18th October 2006. The workshop was opened by the Hon. Deputy Minister of Local Government, Rural Development and Environment and attended by 61 stakeholders, including project clients, implementing agencies and private and public sector collaborating insitutions.

The workshop reviewed progress of project implementation and identified valuable lessons learnt and challenges of the current year. It also made adjustments to facilitate more effective and efficient implementation in 2007 and generate better outcomes and impact.

The main recommendations of the Annual Review Workshop included the following;

  • Need to deepen the participation of women in men-preserve trades such as metal based and engineering oriented enterprises;
  • Small business management training hould be appropriately packaged to secure the interest of small scle entrepreneurs and improve its patronage; and
  • Leadership of participating District Assemblies should be pro-active and demonstrate more commitment to project implementation and provide funding up-front for project operations;
  • exchange visits should be organised for the leadership of non-performing district assemblies to performing centres for experience sharing, peer learning and demonstration effect.
