This pilot programme takes place in Senegal; it is coordinated by the international centre for tropical agriculture (CIAT - www.ciat.cgiar.org)

Objective and major components

The objective of the Program is to strengthen the capacities of research and development professionals and organizations from Senegal to enable them to better employ various participatory methods for collaboratively managing technical and social innovation in rural communities. Three components are foreseen:
- Systematize and develop new course content on collaborative innovation and on improved teaching methodology concerning rural poverty reduction;
- Contribute to the institutionalisation of the approach in the participating universities, taking into account their experiences and the courses currently offered concerning rural poverty reduction;
- Test the feasibility of combining face-to-face learning, e-learning, and field application to prepare for the scaling out of the methodology to other countries.
