Meeting of Fidafrique focal points in Ghana on capitalisation and valorisation of projects experiences

Ghana, Kumasi, February 17, 2006

Focal points of all Ghana ongoing IFAD projects have attended to the workshop, i.e. REP (Mr. Kofi Dadzie), LACOSREP 2 (Mr. A. R. Z. Salifu), NORPREP (Mr Mohamed Ahmed) and RFSP (Mr Richard Boateng). The aim of this meeting is to give opportunity to the projects to present and discuss their capitalisation action plans. The meeting has been held on the fringe of the support workshop on capitalisation of experiences from 13-16 February 2006 (See Report in French)

REP 2

REP presents its newly elaborated action plan (see the document)

For the three other projects, there is no real capitalisation action plan, the focal points of these projects present ideas/themes that could be further structured with the support of Fidafrique.

LACOSREP 2

The focal point has presented raw material in:

  • hand out in community water dam site management,
  • gender mainstreaming in agriculture: training manual
  • guide on group setting and credit management
  • pictorial and video documents on these topics

He has expressed a demand of knowledge about problem in growing onion, cowpea and millet

It has been agreed to:

  • elaborate an action plan targeting a main capitalization product and
  • make these materials available to Fidafrique network

NORPREP

Some ideas about capitalization projects have been presented on:

  • How to capitalize on harmonization and coordination of different development partners: best practices, use of training manuals
  • How to support the functioning of local governments’ structures

RFSP

The idea of capitalization about the benefits of an apex body for rural micro-finance institutions: the case of ARB (association for rural banks) has been suggested.
