FIDAFRIQUE phase II objectives (2004-2007)

Capitalise and develop experiences - innovations

Identify experiences, gather information - accounts, extract qualitative data from reports produced by projects, IFAD and cooperating institutions;

Conduct and widely disseminate interviews - reporting - studies, by mobilising the projects’ staff, communicators - journalists - experts to finalise the articles, documents, audio or video elements;

Advice and train projects as regards their information and communication activities for development (radio and bulletin, web site, information letter, multimedia products, geographical information system).

Facilitate access to scientific and technical information sources

Make an inventory and then disseminate comments on electronic information sources - national and international - devoted to rural development and the fight against poverty: web sites, documents, forums - information letters, libraries.

Organise electronic forums - workshops

Deal with technical issues relative to the management of projects - themes relative to rural development and the fight against poverty; Share and discuss experiences and methods, among projects and with other development actors working on the same themes.

Enhance the knowledge and competences of regional organisations

Promote their participation in the network’s activities (facilitation, training, publication); Build information and communication management skills to integrate them in the management of the future phases of the network.

Create and use web-based tools

A web site regrouping the contents produced within the framework of the network’s activities (experiences - innovations resulting from projects, inventories and commentaries of information sources, advice for the connection and management of local networks.....) An "extranet ", web pages and electronic forums allowing a limited number of people to share secured information and documents from a distance. “Off-line” products (information letter and CD-ROM) for the broad dissemination of the network’s activities and the facilitation of access to « unconnected » or « poorly connected » information.

Hosting Internet services

Provide projects and partners with services to host the Fidafrique programme server administered from Dakar: hosting domain names - public or private web sites - data bases, creating e-mail addresses and electronic forums.

Strengthen the management of the connection and local networks

Promote and document tools - software to improve information management and the connection within local networks; Organise a technical service in charge of answering questions - diagnosing - counselling - distance training and through missions.
